Development @ SDP

The purchase of our ground at Sean Devereux Park in 2013 was possible because of the work of volunteers who have, and continue to, raise development funds by organising the highly successful community music festival Gig on the Green, Yateley.

Since then this fund raising has continued and expanded to include the now annual Cask & Cork festival.

Overall Plan of the proposed developments at Sean Deveruex Park, Yateley.

The Executive committee of the club have discussed long and hard just what form these developments should take to establish facilities for not just today’s players but for generations to come.

There are five main work packages planned which are shown in the plans below.

Work area 1a: Main pitch. We are looking to move it closer to the location of the clubhouse and main carpark thus providing more land for youth pitches.

In addition we shall be upgrading the pitch with improved drainage, a surrounding concrete path and floodlights.

Work Area 1b: The ecology of Sean Devereux Park is important to us and this has been underlined in two ways.

Firstly by an analysis of the light dispersion and spillage to minimise the effect of the proposed floodlighting and secondly by the extra funds we have spent having a bat survey conducted to ensure no unwanted light falls onto any possible roosts.

Work Area 2: The clubhouse will be on two levels.

The lower level will provide changing facilities for 4 teams and officials, a snack bar servery, lift for disabled and toilets for supporters etc. On the upper floor we shall have further toilets, kitchen, bar, committee room and significant club room from which the main pitch can be viewed.

Work Area 3: We intend to reshape the present main car park to enable better use of the space and include in it a flood lit and fenced multiple sports area for tennis, netball and basketball. We shall also be looking too better utilise the present changing rooms building.

Work Area 4: To improve the car parking on site and importantly the safety of all who use the site we intend to create two new parking areas on land unsuitable for sports pitches.

These, together with the adjustments to the present main car park, will add over 50 more parking spaces to the site.

Work Area 5: There is an area of ground located on three sides of the cricket wicket to the east of the park.

Currently this has poor winter drainage but we intend to improve this across the area to enable it to be used for youth pitches.
