Taplow United were improved from last season, but were no match for Yateley with their tails up.

Leading scorer, Neeves, fired in the first shot on target after about 10 minutes and 5 minutes later, Gosling, shot a free kick over the bar.  Harry Wilcox was on fire and fired in two shots that were saved before Sesay on the right fired low and accurately across goal past the floundering goalkeeper’s right hand into the far corner to make it 1-0 after 23 minutes.

Neeves’ shot at the near post was saved.  King crossed from the left and Sesay shot over the bar.  In a nice move, Wilcox to King, then Neeves’ shot was charged down for a corner.  Taplow won a rare corner on the left on 28 minutes.

Lively Neeves again tested the defence, shooting just wide left and Mynard‘s shot at the near post saved on the half-hour.  Gosling set up Thornton to shoot over the bar.  Neeves went down injured and had to come off, replaced on 32 minutes by Munden.  Wilcox and Sesay shot wide before Stutz went down in the area, which the referee ignored.

Thornton shot wide on 44 minutes and Gosling shot straight at the ‘keeper in time added.  On the cusp of half time, Scott crossed and a defender put through his own net.

HT 2-0

Nash replaced King at the interval.  Taplow kicked off the second half with determination, with Clark having to concede a corner from No. 8’s shot on 48 minutes.  Clark punched the next two crosses away.  Wilcox’s shot was parried for a corner on 53 minutes, which Thornton headed over.

Thornton had to go off injured on 62 minutes, replaced by Scott ThomasMunden set up Wilcox who skied his left-foot shot.  Gosling to Nash, who shot wide.  Wilcox shot wide across goal on 75 minutes.  On 78 minutes, Taplow’s shot was tipped over the bar by Clark and the near post effort from the corner was well wide.  Sesay won a corner taken by Wilcox and Munden’s shot saved.  Yateley couldn’t add to the scoreline and Taplow couldn’t take advantage of the few chances created.

MOTM was Harry Wilcox who passed well and tested the ‘keeper from every angle.  The result gave Yateley four wins on the trot and well deserved.
