🗓Weekend Results – January 6th/7th

2024 is underway! A wet weather week meant that unfortunately many of our Youth sides were unable to play…

However, the storm only affected one of our adult fixtures; Our U23s fixture away trip to Eversley and California falling foul once again to the conditions. Now rescheduled for the third time on 3rd February.

A successful weekend for our SDP ties, with wins from all three. Six adult fixtures played and five wins.

On Saturday, Our first team hosted eighth placed Bedfont FC in their twenty-fourth league fixture of the season. First half goals from Captain Scott, Luke Cairns and Tyler Garret-Skins, with a fourth in the second half from Josh Maynard secured a 4-0 victory and another clean sheet for Ben Parslow. Also on Saturday there were home fixtures for both our ‘A’ and ‘B’ sides.

A goal from Sam Price in a friendly for our A’s against, Premier League side, Maidenhead Town FC (two leagues above), was not enough for the win, but a great test for the team. Player of the Match: Matt Handcock. NEXT UP: Mortimer Devs (A) 13.01.24.

Our B team won their match against AFC Wellesley with goals from Lucy Bourienne-Roberts and James Galpin helping to secure a 2-1 win in their first league game (proper) of the season. Player of the Match: Zak Madge. NEXT UP: Camberley United (A) 13.01.24.

On Sunday it was all wins for our sides in action.

Our league leading Ladies faced eleventh placed Barton Rovers in front of a large crowd at Sean Devereux Park in a league fixture. Superstar-striker Georgia Harris with four goals and an assist, Kayleigh Chaplow adding two and Katy Mallaband with a goal of her own meant a resounding 7-0 victory to maintain top spot. Prior to that saw our table topping Vets at SDP beat 5th placed Odium Crocs, 3-1, with goals from Rob Smith, Joey Taylor and an own goal. Player of the Match: Matty Witney. NEXT UP: Sandrock Vets (H) 13.01.24.

The successful weekend was capped off in style as our Sunday team reached the Semi-Final off the Sunday Senior Cup, beating Wilder Wanderers 4-2 on penalties after playing out a 2-2 draw. Myles White scoring both goals in normal time and Goalkeeper, Joe Davey, with a player of the match performance.
