England call up for dawn
We are delighted and extremely proud to share that our very own Dawn Perry-Lewis has been selected in the England Deaf Women’s Football Squad for the upcoming 2023 World Football Championships in Malaysia.
Dawn is Yateley United Ladies FC longest serving player, scoring 17 goals in 64 appearances for the Green Army!
The call up is an amazing and well deserved achievement for Dawn and for the entire England Squad whose entry, being self-funded, has not been one without challenge.
To attend the Championships, they had to raise £50,000 by the end of June. A feat they achieved in just 12 days with the help of a GoFundMe organised by Simon Harris.
It has been reported that some famous and prestigious faces in the world of football supported the fundraiser, with Steven Gerrard, Gary Neville and Gary Lineker making a donation.
Money raised through the fundraiser has enabled footballers such as our own Dawn, realise a dream and get the chance to represent their country on an international stage.
We are positive the whole Green Army will join us in wishing her all the very best in the Championships…
