HISTORY CONTINUES: UNITED WIN FA CUP REPLAY TO REACH THE PRELIMINARY ROUND

Alton FC 0-2 Yateley United

From 2-0 down to forcing a replay and then winning it.

Yateley United have completed a memorable FA Cup comeback to reach the Preliminary Round.

Yateley United have taken another historic step in the club’s FA Cup journey after beating Alton FC 2-0 at Anstey Park in tonight’s replay.

It was the second chapter of a dramatic two-game tie.

After falling 2-0 behind in the original meeting, Yateley refused to let their FA Cup adventure end there. Yateley legend Callum Scott and Ben Catt produced the late goals that brought Yateley level and earned a replay.

And tonight, the GREEN ARMY finished the job.

TWO GAMES. ONE MASSIVE RESULT.

There was no margin for error at Anstey Park.

With the winner progressing to the next round, another tough battle awaited, and it was a bright start.

Noah Stewart had the first opportunity inside five minutes before Nico Storm produced a crucial goal-line block just a minute later to keep Alton out.

The visitors then began to take control.

CONNELLEY BREAKS THE DEADLOCK

On 29 minutes, Yateley finally got their reward.

Nathan Connelley found the breakthrough, with Noah Stewart providing the assist to give United a 1-0 lead.

Just three minutes later, Connelley came close to doubling the advantage, but the Alton goalkeeper produced an excellent one-on-one save.

United continued to press, and their second goal arrived before half-time.

STEWART AND CONNELLEY STRIKE AGAIN

On 39 minutes, Connelley found the net for the second time.

Once again, Stewart was the provider, giving United a crucial 2-0 advantage heading into the interval.

But there was still a long way to go.

HOLDING FIRM

Alton pushed for a way back into the tie after the break and Hugo Sobte produced a huge save on 61 minutes to preserve United’s two-goal cushion.

Connelley, booked, was withdrawn on 69 minutes as Yateley managed the game.

Alton continued to threaten, but the defensive organisation and determination remained impressive.

Ikhon Ward had an opportunity in the 80th minute, before Josh Blackwood produced excellent defending two minutes later to snuff out another Alton attack.

Stewart then had one final opportunity to make it 3-0 in the 84th minute, but the chance went narrowly begging.

It didn’t matter.

The damage had been done.

FULL-TIME: ALTON FC 0-2 YATELEY UNITED

The final whistle confirmed it.

Yateley United FC are through.

It was a victory built on the collective effort of the entire squad.

Man of the Match: Nico Storm

From Callum Scott and Ben Catt’s late heroics in the first game, to Storm’s goal-line intervention, Sobte’s crucial save, Blackwood’s defending, Stewart’s two assists and Connelley’s two finishes tonight - it has taken everyone.

And now, the journey continues.

Thank you to all the travelling fans!

NEXT STOP: THE FA CUP PRELIMINARY ROUND

The Preliminary Round is scheduled for Saturday 22 August 2026, with a default 3pm kick-off.

The draw has placed Yateley United FC away to Fleetlands who defeated Paulton Rovers on Saturday 1-3. Familiar opposition in the next round.

One comeback.

One replay.

One victory.

Yateley United FC are still in the FA Cup.
