A Thank You message!

The Yateley United Youth Tournament on 23–24 May was a milestone weekend for our club; two days filled with football, friendship, sunshine, and a community spirit we will never forget.

Our first ever youth tournament was only possible because so many people came together with generosity, enthusiasm, and a shared love of the grassroots game.

Youth Chairman David Robson summed it up perfectly:

“Thank you to everyone for all their hard work this weekend for making the Yateley United Tournament such a great weekend. Thank you to all our volunteers and for all the teams that came along and made it such a great couple of days. Thank you very much and look forward to next year.”

TEAMS, COACHES & PLAYERS

A remarkable 124 teams took part across the weekend, each contributing to the atmosphere that made this tournament so special.

The football was competitive yet respectful, full of positive energy and camaraderie. Players, coaches, and supporters adapted brilliantly to the heat‑related timing adjustments, showing understanding and prioritising safety without losing any of the joy of the game.

Referees & Officials

Grassroots football simply cannot happen without referees, and this weekend highlighted just how vital they are.

Our young referees were outstanding. Calm, fair, and professional throughout two long, hot days.

Their dedication to creating a safe and enjoyable environment was noticed and appreciated by everyone. They were a credit to themselves and to the organisations they represent, and we are proud to champion them.

• Meet & Greet volunteers welcoming thousands of visitors.
• Car park marshals working tirelessly in the heat.
• BBQ and sweet stall teams keeping spirits high.
• Grounds helpers preparing pitches.
• Presentation and control tent teams keeping everything running smoothly.

And behind it all, the organisers, every single one a volunteer.

Their impact stretches far beyond two days in May.

Every training session, every matchday, every pitch marking, every safeguarding check, every communication, every fundraiser, every piece of admin, every moment of support for our young players, it all happens because volunteers choose to give their time, energy and heart to this club.

Without them, the tournament would not happen.

It really is that simple.

Our volunteers are parents, carers, committee members, coaches, helpers and community champions. They step forward not for recognition, but because they believe in giving the commuity a place to belong, to grow, and to love football.
