🗓 Weekend Results – January 27th/28th

After last weekends freeze, it was great to have so much football played this weekend, with eighteen youth fixtures played at Sean Devereux Park and all but our Vets team in action for our adult section.

January is fast coming to a close with our U18 fixture against Ascot this Wednesday (31st), this weekend saw five wins and a loss.

Our First team, currently in second place, were away to bottom placed Hillingdon Borough in a Combined Counties league match. Having met previously in October, with a Yateley 4-1 win, the pressure was on for not only another strong performance but keeping the winning streak going. After 1 minute the pressure relieved with a goal from the spot from Harry Wilcox. Jordan Robertson doubled the lead in 22nd minute, with Chris Boutros making it three in 30 minutes. Player of the match, Warren Clark scored goals either side of half-time to complete a 5-0 victory. Ben Parsley picked up his fourth consecutive clean sheet. NEXT UP: Eversley and California FC (4th) HOME.

Our 23s were desperately unlucky in their 2-1 away loss to Alton FC Reserves on Saturday. League leaders, Alton, took a 15 minute lead but were pegged back by Will Paine in an extremely tight game. Alton won the match with an extremely late goal. A really tough one to take. The team did the club proud. Player of the Match: Charlie Wright. NEXT UP: Eversley and California FC (8th) AWAY.

Our A’s and B’s both winners in their respective home fixtures. Our A’s faced Reading City Development on their first outing of the season in front of a decent crowd at Sean Dev. Goals from Matt Handcock and Player of the match, Sam Munden was enough to take the 3 points in a 2-1 win that puts them a point behind league leaders Penn + Tylers Green FC Reserves. NEXT UP: Hurst Reserves (AWAY). Our B’s netted 7 against Woking United as they continued their 100% record in Division 1 of the Aldershot & District Football League. Hat-trick for Harry White and goals for Sam Jenkins, Player of the match Dan Walton, Joey Munden and James Galpin. 3 out of 3. NEXT UP: Woking Vets 2 HOME.

Two games on Sunday. Our Sunday team beat Morley Road in their cup tie, 4-2, with goals from Myles White, Sam Munden, Alex Penny and Player of the match, Rhys Kirkby-Cox. NEXT UP: Shire United (AWAY)

Our Ladies had a tight match at Sean Devereux Park against Ruislip Rangers putting pressure on the league leaders with another win. Goal machine, Georgia Harris with the only goal of the game. Player of the match Hannah Howe with a crucial clean sheet. NEXT UP: Burghfield Ladies (AWAY) in the cup.

Thank you for all your support… good luck to our 18s on Wednesday – January you have been class!
