Weekend Results: August 12-13

Six of our Adult teams in action this weekend; Season opener for our U23’s, third Combined Counties match for our first team, and the Ladies, A’s, Sunday and Vets were all in preseason action.

After Tuesday evenings draw away to Woodley, and that last minute Woodley equaliser, it was our First team’s turn to snatch points in the final moments of the game on Saturday… taking all three points from FC Deportivo Galicia away.

Early goals from Sam Head, put us 2-0 up with just eleven minutes played. Galicia replied in the 30th and 32nd minute to level things up before the break. Four minutes after half time Bradley Timson restored the lead; Galicia relied once more in the 66th minute, and that seemed to be the ned of the scoring. Roll on to the 96th minute; player of the match, Sam Head completed his hattrick and the win with a finely taken penalty. FINAL SCORE: 3-4. NEXT UP: Bedfont FC (A) Tues. Highlights can be found here.

On Saturday, Sean Devereux Park hosted the opening game of the 23/24 Suburban League, as we welcomed Raynes Park Vale to our home. With a decent crowd behind them, a clean sheet from player of the match, Connor Turner, and goals from Will Paine, Max Humphreys and James Barnett sealed a good win for our U23s. FINAL SCORE: 3-0. NEXT UP: Godalming Town U23 (H) Sat.

Earlier in the day, our A team played Maidenhead Town in a friendly. A win thanks to two goals from player of the match, Matt Hancock and a goal each for Lee Sampeys and Macauley Smith. FINAL SCORE: 2-4

On Sunday, our Ladies team faced S4K Ladies FC away, in their second preseason friendly, as they prepare for their league campaign. Braces from Mel Todd-Gul, Georgia Harris and Issie Hardie, a goal from Lucy Chapman, coupled with a player of the match performance from Maisy Hunt, sealed a strong performance and win for our ladies. FINAL SCORE: 3-7

Our YUFC Sunday team took to the pitch for the first time under new management and with some new players. Pre-season well and truly underway away to a strong established Bracknell Rangers side. FINAL SCORE: 5-0.

Goals from Peter Prendiville, player of the match Stuart Woods and Rob Taylor sealed the win for our vets team, ending their preseason away to Woking Vets. FINAL SCORE: 2-3
