πŸ—“ Weekend Results – August 19th/20th

Five fixtures across the adult section this week, recording four wins and a draw. Saturday saw a forth consecutive away game for our first team at Brook House, whilst our Under 23s were at home to Godalming Town in their second Suburban league fixture of the season. Our B team had a preseason friendly too.

On Sunday, our Ladies followed the Lionesses with a 2pm kick off at the very impressive Saunders Community Stadium. Our Sunday team had a home fixture in another pre-season fixture for our newest formed team.

After losing for the first time in the league for over a year to a strong Bedfont side, our first team played out a frustrating draw against Brook House on Saturday. A twenty second minute goal from Tom Rudall was not enough to secure the three points as a Brook House FC equaliser just five minutes later meant shared points. Player of the match: Dan Gosling. This result means that we sit eighth in the table after five games, two wins, two draws and a loss. FINAL SCORE: 1-1. NEXT UP: Folland Sports (A). Highlights will be available here.

Our Under 23s produced another strong performance in their game against Godalming in front of a good crowd and SDP. Two own goals wither side of strikes from Tom Sharpe and Ben Tait put the hosts 4-0 up. A late penalty provided a consolation for Godalming. Player of the match, Max Humphreys, provided three assists and caused the opposition problems throughout. FINAL SCORE: 4-1. NEXT UP: Godalming Town (A).

Our B Team also played. A much needed pre-season friendly against Beacon Hill Stags. Goals from Brogan Wells and Kev Kavanagh and a player of the match performance from George Prendiville meant a 2-1 win in a hard fought fixture which featured a few new debutants, including Chris Allan and Luke Hay who provided the assists.

On Sunday morning, all eyes were quite rightly on the England Lionesses. Congratulations for an amazing achievement. Next time!

Yateley United Ladies followed the final whistle, with a performance of their own, away to local neighbours Farnborough Ladies, at the lovely Saunders Transport Community Stadium. A bright day, saw a really strong performance which included a penalty save from captain and player of the match Katy Mallaband and another brace for Georgia Harris, who also provided the assists for Kayleigh Chaplow’s own brace. Ladies leading 4-0 after just 25 minutes. Two goals from the hosts in the second half. FINAL SCORE: 2-4.

Our Sunday team were also in action, in their 3rd preseason friendly, having lost narrowly to Eversley and Cali in midweek, the took on Camberley Magpies at home. A goal and assist from player of the match Charlie Bennett, added to goals from Jacob Peddie, Hassan Habib, Josh Maynard and Rory Fitzmaurice. Manager Charlie Wilcox with a couple of assists too! FINAL SCORE: 5-0.
